Dr. Asad Islam, Medical Director – Psychiatry
Dr. Islam is a board-certified geriatric psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience. He leads the clinical delivery of all treatment programs including geriatric and adult inpatient programs, ECT and outpatient programs.
Dr. Islam’s whole health approach and leadership positively impacts the outcomes of care for our patients. He is devoted to service and participates in several community-building and charitable activities.
Dr. Raza Sayed, Adult Unit Director, Psychiatrist
Dr. Sayed is a board-certified psychiatrist with over ten years of experience. He treats both adult and geriatric inpatient populations with exceptional medical practices and compassionate patient care. Dr. Sayed is passionate about caring for patients and improving lives. He has won numerous awards for his patient care, including the Jansen Fellowship Award and the Outstanding Psychiatry Award.
Dr. Jaya Kumar, Medical Director – Internal Medicine
Dr. Kumar is board-certified in nephrology and internal medicine with over nine years of experience. She leads Mayhill Hospital’s medical treatment approaches and is passionate about whole health approaches and innovative medical interventions.
Dr. Kumar has held numerous leadership positions in the acute and post-acute settings. She continues to publish various scholarly articles and frequently holds keynote speaking roles addressing her research and passion for providing integrated patient care.
Dr. Loc Trieu – Internal Medicine Physician
Dr. Trieu is a board-certified internal medicine physician with over 13 years of experience. He practices an integrated care approach to treatment which yields better patient outcomes and satisfaction. He is passionate about creating innovative approaches that deliver whole health benefits to the patient populations we serve.
Dr. Trieu has operated in various healthcare provider roles and has also held administrative roles within hospital systems. He has created innovative programs for communities, physicians, hospital systems and post-acute care settings that have provided solutions to many healthcare disparities.
Loren – Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Loren serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Mayhill Hospital. She has worked in mental health, clinical and administrative roles in various behavioral health settings throughout Texas. Loren began her career as a therapist working with children, adolescents and adults in acute and residential settings. She continued her work providing mental health and substance abuse services in both inpatient and outpatient settings. As she moved into administrative roles, she found that her clinical experience aided in providing the platform to lead her teams into providing high quality and patient-centered care. Her passion is helping individuals and families find a place of peace and understanding along their recovery. Loren graduated from Louisiana State University with her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and The University of Texas with her Master of Science in Social Work. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor.
Reid – Director of Clinical Services
Reid brings nearly a decade of clinical experience in the treatment of co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders to the Mayhill Hospital leadership team. He is an outspoken advocate for those suffering from chronic mental illness and takes pride in witnessing stories of healing and the rebirth of hope. His specialties include Motivational Enhancement Therapy and Clinical Case Management.
A native Minnesotan, Reid completed his undergraduate studies at Metropolitan State University. He completed his addiction counseling field placement at Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, in Center City, MN and is a graduate of Texas State University’s Master of Social Work program.
Melissa – Director of Intake
Melissa has over ten years in the behavioral health field and has experience with populations ranging from children to the geriatrics. She and her team are passionate about helping people and families in crisis make easy transitions into treatment. Melissa looks forward to coming to work every day to help the intake team, patients and families we serve.
Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Texas Women’s University and Master in Social Work from University of Texas at Arlington. She holds a certification in administration and is a licensed master social worker. She is about to sit for her LCSW licensure and is also working towards her LCDC licensure.
Brooke – Director of Business Development
Brooke is a Combat Veteran of The United States Air Force where she proudly served her Country for four years as a Security Forces member. Brooke received her Bachelors in Human Resource Management from Park University. She has a strong passion for behavioral health and the need to break the stigma. Having a professional background in behavioral health and substance use disorders she has effectively developed company relationships and internal and external processes for the past five years. Brooke uses her skillset to enhance community collaboration and create integrated solutions to improve patient care outcomes.
Shekelia – Director of PHP/IOP
Shekelia is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She graduated with her 60 hour, CACREP accredited, Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with honors from the University of South Alabama in 2017. She earned a Bachelor’s in psychology with a minor in Sociology in 2014. Shekelia has a broad range of clinical experience working with individuals and groups in the following areas of dual diagnosis, mental health diagnosis, substance abuse, depression, trauma, anxiety disorder, suicide assessment/risk reduction, group psychotherapy, and self-esteem issues. Shekelia’s approach emphasizes the mutual development of treatment goals with her patients and ongoing evaluation of the therapeutic effectiveness. Shekelia is committed to utilizing evidenced based practices and emphasizing an integrative, dynamic, and holistic approach to mental health and substance misuse treatment.
Krissie – Director of Nursing
Whitney, LMSW – Director of Risk / Performance Improvement
Whitney has worked over seven years in the field of mental health. She has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and the geriatric population both in inpatient and outpatient settings. Whitney obtained her Bachelors of Social Work from the University of North Texas then proceeded to obtain her Masters of Social Work at The University of Texas at Arlington.
